Professional experience: 

Before joining Materials Design®, she worked as a Support Scientist for Accelrys Inc. in Cambridge, UK.

Maria studied Chemistry at the University of Oviedo in Spain. After finishing her studies, she moved to Germany, where she received a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Potsdam in 2007. She did her Ph.D. research and a post-doc assignment at the GKSS Research Center in Germany working with Professor Dieter Hofmann. Her research focused on the investigation of hydrolytically degradable polymers using forcefield methods and quantum chemistry calculations.

Maria was born in Gijón, a city by the sea in the beautiful region of Asturias on the northern coast of Spain. Now based in Berlin, she enjoys biking, reading books and maps, playing tennis, flamenco dancing, and painting.
