MedeA Interface Search
MedeA's novel
interface search algorithm and building capability lets you
determine heterogeneous
interfaces and grain boundaries.
The interface
search is based on geometrical matching criteria to find coherent lattices for interface components with differing lattice
parameters. The procedure allows you to smoothly adapt lattice
parameters for components with differing hardness.
For elements, grain boundaries are determined as having
a natural perfect lattice match for certain embedding angles.
The interface
search provides a spreadsheet of structural solutions matching the
starting conditions and lets you build selected candidates and
further refine by adjusting the interface gap and gamma surface
orientation.
Key Features
- Finds heterogeneous interfaces and grain
boundaries
- Automatic search for interfaces with
minimum misfit
- Graphical preview with symmetry analysis
- Adjust individual interface gaps and in-plane orientation (gamma surface
degrees of freedom)
- Split an interface into the corresponding free surface
systems
- Full integration with MedeA's
builders and computational tools.
