MedeA builders

MedeA software suites provide a range of tools to build and manipulate solid state structures. Starting from experimental data for bulk systems, supercells, defect structures and surfaces can be build with great ease.

In addition to the standard building tools, the MedeA Interfaces module lets you determine heterogeneous interfaces and grain boundaries from surface data.

Supercell builder
  • Build supercells and arbitrarily directed cells from the unit cell
Molecular builder
  • Build molecules from scratch; Position molecules with respect to surfaces, solids and interfaces
Void finder
  • Find voids and interstitial sites for any type of input system

  • Display coordination numbers for interstitial positions

  • Simple insert-atom-at-site function to create point defect structures

Point defect analysis
  • Find tetrahedral and octahedral interstitial sites for bcc, fcc and hcp systems

  • Includes automated convergence for point defect insertion energies

Substitutional Search
  • Symmetry analysis for multiple substitutions of atoms in a supercell

  • Lets you control defect-defect distances

  • Copy and Paste function to import structures to spreadsheet job control

Surface builder
  • Build a directed surface model starting from a bulk system

  • Control surface termination through graphical slide planes

Interfaces module
  • Find heterogeneous interfaces and grain boundaries from surface data input
