Raytheon's Technology Today describes the ongoing cooperation between Materials Design® and Raytheon as they work to find lead-free solder.
MedeA-VASP and the Transition State Search module are powerful tools in prescreening interesting candidates to eliminate toxic lead.
The goal is long-life: Lead is used to suppress whisker growth and preserve the amazing thermal properties of solder. The result? Contacts that last.
And we all know from the movies that high lead concentrations can shorten your life span.
