Materials Design, Inc. senior scientist, Volker Eyert, will give an invited talk titled "Atomistische Simulationen als Motor industrieller Innovation" at the Physikzentrum of the German Physical Society (Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft, DPG) in Bad Honnef. This talk is part of the "Bad Honnefer Industriegespräche" series organized by the Arbeitskreis Industrie und Wirtschaft of the DPG.
Atomistic Simulations as a Motor of Industrial Innovation
The development of new materials opens up exciting and often unimagined possibilities in many areas of life, from communication, information processing, mobility and medicine to energy conversion and storage. Of course, we expect long-term reliability as well as high safety, sustainability and environmental compatibility, but rarely do we envision the challenges of modern materials research in order to guarantee precisely those properties. In this field of tension, atomistic simulations have proven to be an indispensable component. Without them, neither the systematic search for materials with tailor-made properties nor comprehensive quality assurance would be conceivable. The lecture describes the possibilities of atomistic simulations in an industrial context and gives an insight into current developments.
