DCS Computing GmbH and Materials Design, Inc. Announce Collaboration
Linz, Austria, and San Diego, CA – September 18, 2024
DCS Computing GmbH, and Materials Design, Inc., today announced the formation of a collaboration partnership.
DCS Computing, through its Aspherix® and CFDEM®coupling products, provides Discrete Element Modeling (DEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to model and design materials and processes, allowing researchers and engineers to digitally explore parameters and designs to meet their specifications.
Materials Design has created the world’s most comprehensive atomistic modeling and simulation software for materials science and engineering. The company’s MedeA Environment provides software, databases, builders, compute engines, and analysis tools that render extremely precise atomistic and micro-scale models, helping clients to gain deep understanding of materials and to compute materials properties as inputinto macroscopic simulations.
Through their partnership, DCS Computing and Materials Design will provide customers with accurate predictive materials design and simulation methods at both the micro- and macro level with initial focus on renewable energy, batteries, and pharma applications.
Christoph Kloss, co-founder and CEO of DCS Computing, said: “The Materials Design toolset perfectly complements DCS Computing’s technologies. In today's world of ever-accelerating product development cycles and profound changes - such as in the automotive, pharma and energy space - those who have the most holistic view on engineering their product performance will prevail. While Materials Design's software is perfect for researching novel material candidates, our technology can make sure it hits the road in time, in scope and within budget when it comes to manufacturing processes and product quality."
Materials Design Chief Science Officer and Chairman of the Board Dr. Erich Wimmer adds: “For most applications, computational materials engineering requires a multiscale approach. Fracture, corrosion, segregation, adhesion, chemical reactions, but also thermal expansion, phase changes, and viscosity of fluids are examples of phenomena that have an atomistic origin but control their macroscopic behavior. Accurate high-throughput computations and machine learning technologies have opened unprecedented opportunities for integrated materials design. I am very excited about seeing the combination of the unique expertise and software capabilities of our companies creating new value for our joint customers."
Dr Wimmer will be a speaker at the 5th Aspherix® & CFDEM®coupling Conference to be held in Vienna, Austria on 26-27 September 2024.
