Technical Support Engineer


Materials Design is seeking a Technical Support Engineer with a passion for providing technical software support to our customers, a background in computational sciences, and experience in Linux and Windows operating systems to join our dynamic and growing team! Responsibilities Include

  • Developing a deep technical understanding of the MedeA® software environment

  • Working with customers in the U.S. and Europe to provide technical and installation support for the MedeA® software environment

  • Tuning, configuring, and integrating the MedeA® software environment to work with customers’ HPC and cloud environments

  • Troubleshooting technical issues to establish the root cause of problems and liaising with colleagues and software developers

  • Assisting in developing support tools to diagnose and resolve customer technical issues

Qualifications We Require

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field, or in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields with a focus on the computational aspect

  • Experience in installing programs on Linux and Windows operating systems as well as HPC and cloud environments

  • The ability to work as part of a team and desires to contribute to continuous improvement

  • Resourcefulness, creativity, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to details, and the ability to help others solve problems

  • Passionate about technology with a strong desire to work in a fast-paced technical environment

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience in the installation of the MedeA® software environment

  • Experience in compiling one or more of the following software packages: VASP, LAMMPS, GIBBS, MOPAC, and Gaussian

  • Experience with parallel computing and HPC queueing systems

  • Experience in operating in a cloud environment and dockers and containers

  • Experience with software development and shell scripting

Position Information This position is a full-time position based on the U.S. East Coast (or willing to work U.S. Eastern time zone hours). The specific place of work can be chosen by mutual agreement. Legal authorization to work in the United States required (must be a U.S. lawful permanent resident or a U.S. citizen). We offer competitive compensation and benefits including:
