Materials Design, a leading provider of advanced materials simulation software, is excited to announce that Dr. Garrett Tow, a respected expert in the field, will be presenting an interesting case study at the 2024 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fall Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.
The presentation, titled “Machine-Learned Potentials for Studying Corrosion, Embrittlement, and Phase Transitions in Zirconium”, will demonstrate the powerful capabilities of the MedeA® Environment in training and applying machine-learned potentials to solve complex problems in metallurgy and materials science.
The case study will focus on how Materials Design’s innovative approach is advancing the understanding of critical technology challenges in metals and metal oxides, particularly in the energy sector. Dr. Tow will explore how these machine-learned potentials can be used to predict material behavior under harsh conditions, such as corrosion and embrittlement, which are of significant importance to industries including nuclear energy, aerospace, and more.
“Machine learning is transforming the way we model and understand materials,” said Dr. Garrett Tow, Senior Scientist at Materials Design. “By applying these techniques to zirconium and other critical metals, we can improve safety and performance in real-world applications, such as nuclear reactors and energy systems.”
In addition to the presentation, the Materials Design team will be at the MRS Fall Meeting to engage with participants from academia and industry. The company invites attendees, whether existing customers or new contacts, to meet with them and discuss potential collaborations, schedule software demonstrations, or simply converse about their materials modeling needs.
"We’re always eager to connect with other professionals in the materials science field," said Chelsea Kemmerrer, Academic Account Manager at Materials Design. "Whether you're interested in exploring new materials design solutions or learning more about our software capabilities, we would love to meet with you at the MRS Fall Meeting."
The 2024 MRS Fall Meeting will take place from December 1-6, 2024 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA.
